To promote and enhance the values of cities, towns and villages in the Pittsburgh region, nationally and internationally through initiatives, the symposia series, programs, interaction with government, community and business leaders and by sponsoring demonstration projects.

To collaborate with Carnegie Mellon University, the School of Architecture, the H. John Heinz III School of Public Policy and Management, the Tepper School of Business and other related national and international organizations to develop and extend initiatives.

To foster an integrated and total experience of education, research and career opportunities for students of architecture and urban design and to support their needs through scholarship and other means.

To act as a bridge between Carnegie Mellon University, the Allied Fields and communities throughout the world.
