Cornerstones brings together the many interests of the Allied Fields of the Building Industry into a more cohesive and responsive partnership. The Allied Fields include architects, engineers, developers, builders/contractors, bankers, mortgage bankers, realtors, lawyers, insurers, specialty contractors and government officials.

Cornerstones is a meeting place where its members interact with each other in collaborative planning and development efforts that help advance agendas that will strengthen the future of the Pittsburgh region.

The organization and its members introduce architecture students to the commercial world and its many opportunities. Cornerstones provides a forum for the next generation of leaders to voice their opinion and share perspectives.

Cornerstones supports architecture students at Carnegie Mellon with scholarships, traveling fellowships, equipment and other enhancements, exposing them to the unlimited possibilities in the Allied Fields.

Through its student-based research unit, the Urban Lab, Cornerstones provides students the opportunity to explore the dynamics of urban growth by studying its problems and implementing solutions.

Cornerstones is an integral part of the Carnegie Mellon School of Architecture.
